Finance Terms A–Z
Wealth management comes with its own language. Whether you’re reading about Alpha360, Wealth Solutions, Shield360, or Legacy360, here’s a plain-English glossary of the terms you’ll come across most often.

Wealth & Investments
Net Worth
The value of everything you own — investments, property, gold, cash — minus what you owe. The starting point for any real financial plan.
AUM (Assets Under Management)
The total market value of the investments an advisor or fund manager oversees on behalf of clients.
PMS (Portfolio Management Service)
A professionally managed investment service, typically for larger portfolios, where a manager builds and runs a customised equity or multi-asset portfolio for you.
AIF (Alternative Investment Fund)
A pooled investment vehicle — such as a private equity, venture capital, or hedge fund — that invests outside traditional stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, usually for high-net-worth investors.
Asset Allocation
How your money is divided across asset classes — equity, debt, gold, real estate — to balance growth potential against risk.
NCD (Non-Convertible Debenture)
A fixed-income bond issued by a company that cannot be converted into equity shares, typically offering a fixed interest rate over a set tenure.
SIP (Systematic Investment Plan)
A method of investing a fixed sum in a mutual fund at regular intervals, rather than a lump sum, to average out market ups and downs over time.

Insurance & Protection
Term Insurance
A pure life insurance policy that pays a death benefit to your family if something happens to you during the policy term — no maturity payout, which keeps premiums low for high cover.
Cashless Claim
A health insurance settlement where the insurer pays the hospital directly for treatment at a network hospital, so you don't have to pay upfront and claim reimbursement later.
Sum Insured
The maximum amount an insurance policy will pay out in the event of a covered claim during the policy year.
Super Top-Up Plan
An add-on health cover that kicks in once your base policy's claims cross a set threshold, giving you a much larger safety net for a relatively small extra premium.
Critical Illness Cover
A policy that pays a lump sum on diagnosis of a specified serious illness, regardless of the actual treatment cost, to help cover income loss and recovery expenses.

HUF (Hindu Undivided Family)
A separate tax and legal entity recognised under Indian law, made up of family members, often used as a structure to hold and pass down ancestral property and wealth.
Succession Planning
The process of deciding, documenting, and legally structuring how your wealth, property, and business will transfer to the next generation.
Will
A legal document that states how you want your assets distributed after your death, and who should be responsible for carrying that out.
Family Office
A dedicated setup — internal or outsourced — that manages the full financial life of a wealthy family: investments, tax, estate planning, and governance, all under one coordinated view.
Business Succession
A structured plan for transferring ownership and control of a family business to the next generation or a chosen successor, without disrupting operations.
